While meditation is known to have many benefits, something that practically everyone needs for day to day activities are focused attention and good working memory. As a child, I grew up watching cartoon characters like Superman, Popeye and Hercules. These men were brave, strong and ever helpful. Whatever be the catastrophe, they would always turn up and defeat the bad guys, no matter whatever the size of their foe. As a child, I idolized them and always wanted to be strong like them. I do realize now that it's not humanly possible to fly or lift huge boulders with bare hands, but I stillbelieve that one can definitely work their way to having a strong body like these supermen.
Your office colleagues have organized a football match and want you to be a part of it. It sounds like an interesting prospect but you decline to join them and instead support them from the stands.Similar situations have crossed your paths so many times and every time you’ve passed them. Tight-packed schedules, mind-numbing work hours, excessive work load, and thirst for appraisals have turned our lives into stressful ones. “I remember watching Arnold Schwarzenegger’s documentary Pumping Iron when I was a school boy. The sheer size of his muscles left me wondering if it was humanly possible to achieve anything even close to those huge arms and shoulders. The coming years saw hours spent at the local gym trying to get a good chiseled body. As the scene shifted from classroom to workplace, so did the meaning of a good chiseled body. And what was left of that ambition was to keep the tummy line in check. My arms were never that strong and always had problem doing push-ups and pull ups.
"No pain, no gain!"
Seven –time Mr. Olympia Arnold Schwarzenegger said this phrase sometime during his career which went on to become the workout attitude defining statement of our times. It is crisp and apt, just the way a phrase should be. But is pain really that essential? What if one could work out a plan to minimize the pain and maximize the benefits of their workout? Does it sound too good to be true?

From an infant to a toddler to a second-grader, children do yoga all the time. It is only when they start turning older that they stop doing these postures and need to go to a yoga school to learn it all again. Schools around the world are now acknowledging the important role yoga plays in the physical and mental growth of children and are encouraging children to indulge in this ancient practice.
There is a story about the emperor of Delhi. India was a collection of many small states. So he was an emperor. The emperor of Delhi had a minister called Birbal. He was a clown too. The emperor himself was a clown. He would lay down funny laws and rules. Once he ordered that in his country” anybody who says a lie will be hanged”. This law was to be implemented. The kings would make their own laws. It was all upto their fancies. There was no Parliament, no congress to sit and debate and pass the law.
Often, when you sit to pause through a busy day, we can count the different moments we live throughout the day. The moments of being angry, being lost, being mad at someone, feeling lonely, lost and the laundry list doesn’t end here. Sometimes, it goes from one end to another end of a tissue roll. The lucky ones are those who sit back, reconcile with themselves for a minute or two to go through the happenings of the day and can move on. For some others, it’s like living on the edge.

Having been born and brought up in North East India, she always had a soft side for that part of the country. In 2001, she started her venture to teach meditation to the people of Darjeeling, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Nagaland.

Whether it was teaching a hardcore criminal in the jails of Kohima, a tribal leader in Arunachal Pradesh, or an intellectual politician in Shillong, she believes meditation brought out the innocence in each one of them.
